Live from the D, it’s Tenacious D
Last night, I traded watching baseball for a night out with a few of my friends. We headed to downtown Detroit, not to watch the Tigers, but to watch Tenacious D in concert.
For those who aren’t familiar with Tenacious D, they’re a comedy/rock group featuring actors Jack Black and Kyle Gass. Not only have the two had successful careers in Hollywood, but they’ve created quite a following for their musical talents. This was the second time that I’ve seen them in concert, and it was just as good as the first.
The opening group, The Sights, was one that I wasn’t previously familiar with, but they were much better than I had anticipated. They made it clear from the beginning that they were from Detroit, which I’d imagine would make the performance that much more memorable for them.
Once Tenacious D get on stage, the audience was into it for the entire show. Watching them perform on stage, you forget that they’re two actors. It really speaks volumes about how talented these guys are. It’s been years since they’ve gone on a nationwide tour, the last being back in the fall of 2006.
It was an awesome show, and I hope that they go on tour again in the near future. If they do, you better believe that I’ll be going. I wanted to record a couple songs from the concert, but due to inappropriate language, there was only one that I can share with you. Hopefully you’ll enjoy it!
